This is the Privacy Policy for the web site (the "Site") of Festina Lente Productions, LLC ("Festina Lente", "us", "we"). It describes what information we collect while you use the Site and the ways it may be used.
1. Hosting Provider
We use web hosting and e-mail services provided by Dreamhost (https://www.dreamhost.com), who primarily act as a data processor with regard to your usage of the Site. You may wish to familiarize yourself with their privacy policy (https://www.dreamhost.com/legal/privacy-policy/).
2. Types of data collected
2.1 Server logs
As is standard practice for most web sites, several pieces of information about you are stored in our server logs when you visit. These may include, but are not limited to: your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring pages, HTTP headers, and timestamp.
2.1 E-mail
If you sign up for our e-mail announcement list, we will necessarily record and retain your e-mail address as long as you are subscribed. Every announcement contains instructions for how to unsubscribe, or you can do so by visiting https://festina-lente-productions.com/unsubscribe, or by e-mailing us with your request. If you unsubscribe, we will no longer retain your e-mail address.
Likewise, if you send us e-mail, we interpret that as your consent to our retaining your e-mail address and messages for the purpose of that communication.
2.2 No cookies, or other data
We do not use cookies, hidden Javascript analytics tools, or otherwise try to to identify you or track your activities, outside of what is contained in the aforementioned server logs and e-mail communications.
2.3 Third party collection
We may provide links on our Site that refer to external websites, not operated by us. These sites have their own privacy policies, and they may collect additional information when you use their services. For example, if you watch a YouTube video embedded on our Site, it will be played from YouTube's servers, and the player widget will likely record various information about you and your behavior. We make no guarantees about such third-party data collection. You will need to read those web sites' respective privacy policies to understand your rights and risks fully. We do try to limit our usage of such third-party services, on a best-effort basis.
As a general rule, we attempt to host all relevant data on our own servers, rather than using a content-delivery network (CDN). This helps reduce the number of entities that process your data, when you use the Site. However, from time to time we may temporarily use a CDN to host our data. For example, if some content on our Site attracts a large amount of traffic, we may use a CDN to reduce load on our servers during that period of increased activity.
3. How we use your data
We use your data in order to better operate this Site. This includes using that data to (1) identify usage patterns, trends, and popularity, (2) diagnose and fix problems, security risks, or errors, (3) send e-mail to you, if you have requested it, and (4) investigate or prevent any illegal activities, or perform other actions required by law.
